Refrigerator repair
By Greg Turner
Do you have a refrigerator that is not cooling as well as you think it should. This Lens will show you some quick and easy things to check on your refrigerator when it is not cooling. You never know, you might save some big bucks after reading my lens. This lens is primarily designed for the person that has no technical knowledge about refrigerators. a more in depth study my be need to trouble shoot any further. So you went to get the milk out of the refrigerator and realized that it wasn't very cold and you started checking everything else and nothing else seemed to be cold enough either. You have a problem! Not just a problem with the fridge but also a decision to make. Do you call a repair company or do you try to save money and fix it yourself? You may be surprised how easy it is to fix most problems with refrigerators. Below are some common problems with refrigerators and visual inspections that even someone with no experience with household repairs can utilize Before we get in to the meat of the article for refrigerator-repair we need to talk about safety. My most passionate subject when talking about doing any kind of repairs is safety. I don't mean that you need to wear safety hats or big thick rubber gloves that you cant even grab a screw driver with. Although, if you have a safety hat with your favorite football team on it, and if you think that sort of thing helps with the ladies, it would be ok to wear it. What I am talking about is wearing proper eye protection, cut resistant gloves, and arm protectors. This might sound silly but I am here to tell you that it is worth wearing these things. You don't want to spend more at the hospital than you would have saved by doing the repair yourself. REFRIGERATOR-REPAIR TIPS 1) If the refrigerator wont run at all and no lights are on you may want to check the outlet for power and check the power cord to make sure it is still in good shape. 2) If the refrigerator wont run and the lights are on you will want to check the defrost timer and the cold control thermostat. 3) If the refrigerator is running but not cooling you will want to check: 1) Evaporator fan motor 2) Condensor fan motor 3) Compressor 4) Light switch 5) Compressor Start Relay 6) Condensor coils Each of the items above can be checked visually. You would check the fan motors to see if they are turning. You can usually feel the compressor to see if it is running. The light switch could be stuck open which would keep the light on. The compressor relay could be burned up or busted. You may also need to clean the coils.
